Welcome to USS GRIDLEY (DDG101) , the 51st Arleigh Burke class destroyer, and the 4th ship to bear the name.
Named after Captain Charles Gridley, recipient of then Commodore George Dewey's famous command, "You may fire when you are ready, Gridley" at the Battle of Manila Bay on 1 May, 1898. GRIDLEY's keel was laid 30 July 2004 at Bath Iron Works in Bath, Maine. Gridley was commissioned in February 2007 in our wonderful host city of Miami, Florida. GRIDLEY has joined the Pacific Fleet and is now conducting her second deployment in support of the Global War on Terrorism.
